Claire is a former health care consultant, including positions at Blue Cross Blue Shield, IBM and Hull Associates LLC, where she co-authored industry white papers. She also obtained a Master’s in Public Health from Boston University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Darden School at the University of Virginia.

 Claire studied creative writing with Joyce Carol Oates as a Princeton undergraduate. She lives in Duxbury, Massachusetts with her husband and two daughters. She formerly owned an oyster farm and sea salt business in Duxbury called Hungry Pilgrim. She is currently a board member of her library's endowment fund and of a local preschool.
